Odd Beholder — Reve De Toi

Odd Beholder, the electro wave / indie pop project by Swiss musician Daniela Weinmann, is releasing the new single “Reve De Toi”, on August 23rd, 2024, the first Odd Beholder song with French lyrics.

"Let’s dive into the clichés" Weinmann explains, "I associate French with romance, sex, perfume, fashion, lavender fields, rough cliffs, TGV, grapes and wrinkly soft cheese, Baudelaire, Gainsbourg, atheism, nostalgia, vampires eating snails, Godard, Jacques Tati, AIR, banlieue, surrealism, decadence. It’s a world of dream pop tropes. It’s rough shit, seen through a blurry lens."

Unlike English, French is one of Switzerland’s four national languages. Weinmann continues:

"I have learned French already in my childhood, four years before my first lessons in English. It always bothered me that I haven’t written songs in the languages of my country. But since I am touring with Elodie (Billie Bird) who lives in Lausanne, I have grown even more fond of the French part of Switzerland (we call it “la Romandie”). It has a lively and interesting music scene and I got to know a lot of musicians over time, like Laure Betris, Melissa Kassab, Alma Catin, or Delia Meshlir. It is a nod to them, too."
