Long Tall Jefferson — step across the border

The very mellow and slowly building album closer «step across the border» is Long Tall Jefferson’s last single on the way to releasing his fourth studio album «old sun, new horizon».

«i can try & try & try
try as long as i need to
i will try & try & try
somewhere down the line i will meet you
and hold on to your wisdom like a child»

This slowly building folk song is based on the belief that giving in is the best way to deal with resistance – staying soft and generous, not budging, not giving up. Like a mantra, the chorus conjures perseverance, addressing a mystical “you” as a companion on the path to fulfillment. One by one, piano, electric guitar, and finally drums join in, culminating in an outro filled with jubilant hopefulness.

I love the tranquility in this song so much. This effortless confidence that everything will be alright in the end. That we can give in and watch it all unfurl for us.” – Long Tall Jefferson
