Augusta
Augusta is an English-French folk artist whose songwriting blends delicate guitar work with quietly powerful melodies. Her music moves between restraint and emotional intensity, creating space for reflection rather than easy resolution. Rooted in acoustic storytelling, her work favors nuance over spectacle, allowing emotion to unfold with patience and clarity.
Building on her first two EPs, The Beetles & the Bugs (2022) and I Don’t Think I Do (2023), both recorded in a stripped-back guitar-and-voice format, Augusta returns with Make a River of My Spine (2026), her first record arranged and recorded with a full band. The shift marks a new chapter. Her intimate songwriting expands into richer textures and subtle collective interplay, bringing new depth to her sound while preserving the vulnerability at its core.
At the heart of the EP are themes of becoming, the ties between past and present, and the quiet negotiations of womanhood. The focus track, “Wonky Knees”,reflects on growing into oneself under the weight of expectations, balancing self-doubt with quiet acts of resistance. Across the record, identity is explored as something fluid rather than fixed.
Her sound drifts between contemporary folk and indie singer-songwriter traditions, drawing comparisons to artists such as Laura Marling, Adrianne Lenker, Billie Marten, and Alice Phoebe Lou, while maintaining a distinct emotional precision of its own.
On stage, Augusta has opened for Franz Ferdinand, Novo Amor, Herman Dune, Solann, Tom Rosenthal, Harrison Storm, and Black Sea Dahu. Her performances have taken her across Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Spain, and England, steadily building an international audience.
With Make a River of My Spine, Augusta confirms her place within contemporary indie folk: understated yet assured, intimate yet expansive. Her songs do not rush toward resolution. They linger, trusting the listener to sit with uncertainty and the slow unfolding of feeling.
