Tal Arditi — Close Your Eyes
Tal Arditi Announces „Close Your Eyes“ – A Tender, Reflective EP Out 7 March 2025
Berlin-based artist Tal Arditi’s upcoming EP, „Close Your Eyes“, feels like a quiet conversation on a rainy evening. It’s personal yet universal, balancing lush, intimate soundscapes with a growing confidence in storytelling. Set to release on 7 March 2025 via Mouthwatering Records, and the fourth release with this Swiss powerhouse label, „Close Your Eyes“ reveals an artist who has become unafraid of silence, space, vulnerability and reflection.
In „Close Your Eyes“, Arditi leans into simplicity without sacrificing depth. His signature blend of folk and electronic textures is here, but there’s a new maturity in the way he lets his songs breathe. The spaces between the notes say as much as the lyrics themselves.
“Sometimes, the most profound emotions don’t need to be dressed up,” Arditi shares. “This EP is about finding clarity and finding comfort in the in-between moments.”
"Close Your Eyes":
At the heart of the EP is its namesake, „Close Your Eyes“, a contemplative anthem for those wrestling with the weight of isolation: “Every time you feel the sadness deep inside, just surrender to the storm and close your eyes,” Arditi sings over an atmospheric arrangement that aches with understanding. It’s a song about resilience and the power of introspection – where surrender doesn’t signal defeat but a necessary pause.
‘’This song is about finding the quiet in the eye of the storm. I wrote it at a time in my life when many different things started to fall apart – my parents separated, and there was so much chaos in my personal life. I felt like I was drifting away from my center. I needed to find silence and peace again by simply letting everything pass through me and just accepting it.’’
“Waiting for Your Love":
Inspired by Dún Laoghaire Pier in Ireland, this track, the first single released from the EP in 2024, paints vivid pictures of holding on when every sign suggests letting go. With lyrics like, “Soon enough my patience will run out, but until I’m sobered up, I’ll hold on to the thought,” Arditi captures the bittersweet hope that comes with waiting for a love that may never arrive. It’s introspective, yes, but with a summery, hopeful sound carries a surprising lightness.
"One More Day":
With its hypnotic guitar loop and angular melodies, "One More Day" dives into the chaos of uncertainty. Tension builds in the verses before breaking open into a cathartic chorus, offering a glimpse of what freedom might feel like. The bridge, featuring a searing guitar solo reminiscent of St. Vincent, cuts through the emotional haze, adding sharpness to the track’s themes of hesitation and release.
"The World Is Ours Tonight":
A soft acoustic intro gives way to an expansive chorus in "The World Is Ours Tonight", a track that captures fleeting moments of connection and intimacy. “How can I keep this moment in my mind? You should know at least I really tried,” Arditi laments, his warm vocals weaving through delicate guitar lines. It’s a love song to impermanence – an ode to the fleeting magic of the here and now.
‘’I Still Love You’’:
A haunting melody sets the tone of "I Still Love You” – a song that captures the unexpected aftermath of a breakup, diving into the struggle of realizing that moving on isn’t as easy as it seemed. Tal opens with the line, “I got this old song still stuck in my head, it’s playing in circles without an end.” The looping memories, like a relentless melody, trap him in the past, refusing to let him move forward. Bendy guitar lines shimmer just before the chorus, where punchy, Beck-inspired drums drive the emotional weight home. The result is an irresistible journey through heartbreak, pulling listeners into Tal’s attempt to find closure.
