IKAN HYU — towers

A new song for a new TV-series: IKAN HYU's towers combines soaring highs with melancholy, celebrates the bittersweet feeling of freedom on stage and reminds us of the short lived nature of fame.

Towers was created at the request of director Eric Andreae, who was looking for a song with a catchy melody for the upcoming Swiss television series "Mindblow". In the series, the song is written by the main character – a young musician in search of success – but is ultimately stolen by his sister and performed in various versions.

IKAN HYU's version, which does not appear in the series in this form, was written, recorded and produced by the duo in their own studio. As a reference to the series’ theme, towers describes the liberating feeling of euphoria which musicians feel during a performance. This feeling becomes even more profound with the knowledge that a concert, a high or even a career, will eventually end.

For IKAN HYU, performing can feel like flying, the stage being a castle in the air, far away from the real world, a place where they can let go and be themselves.
