Billie Bird — Nos corps

"Nos corps", the new EP by Billie Bird, comes to life following her critically acclaimed debut album in 2023. The French-speaking artist, who has been pulling off a real tour de force in Germany over the past year with more than 30 concerts, chose to name this latest EP "Nos corps" (Our Bodies). Why this title? Because it embodies her tireless exploration of the human condition, a central theme for the singer-songwriter. How do our bodies interact? How do they respond to each other, seek one another, or remain silent in the face of unexpressed emotions, as in her song "Les silences" (The silences)?

Billie Bird owns the multiplicity of what unfolds within our bodies: at times a place of celebration, at others a space of tension, they are territories where vulnerability and power intertwine. This new EP, composed of four tracks, powerfully unveils this duality. Among them is the emblematic "Guerrera", Billie Bird's first song in Spanish, which declares: su cuerpo es un campo de batalla (her body is a battlefield). This powerful song honors the memory of the exiled Spanish women in her lineage and celebrates a resistant, proud identity. "Les silences", a promising and captivating single co-written with Alizé Oswald from the famouse swiss band Aliose, invites us to listen differently: here, silence is not absence but resistance— a space where reflection is born and where a more "genuine" voice begins to emerge. Across its four tracks, Billie Bird offers a sonic journey between intimacy and resilience, where warmth and tenderness coexist with sultriness and darkness, as in "Vendredi 14h" (Friday 2 PM). Supported by visceral guitars and a voice "that haunts those who encounter it," she delivers raw, incandescent poetry, sometimes chanted, sometimes melodic. Each track delves into what transpires within our bodies: from shivers to wounds, from embraces to farewells. Nos corps se frôlent, nos corps se blessent. Nos corps se sont aimés comme iels se laissent (Our bodies brush against each other, our bodies wound each other. Our bodies loved as they now part), she sings with magnetic depth, capable of stirring even the coldest hearts.
